Border secure £3m contract at Abbotsford House
Border Construction Ltd has commenced work on a major new Visitor Reception Building at the home of Sir Walter Scott at Abbotsford House in the Scottish Borders.
The project comprises the construction of a new architecturally striking, highly sustainable and high quality Visitor Reception Building together with extensive external works all within an existing mature wooded area.
The new Visitors Reception Building will provide a range of facilities and amenities including reception, ticketing and shop together with café and terrace, conference / multi-purpose room and associated office, kitchen and ancillary space.
The building incorporates a range of sustainable features including:- Ground Source Heat Pump; underfloor heating; green Sedum roof system; rainwater harvesting system; and packaged sewage treatment works. The building has been designed to achieve a Very Good BREEAM Rating.
